My Cincinnati Gal She helps me see the “Now” in the moment She kissed me on the cheek My smile I couldn’t keep at bay and she noticed it And I do not need another one You can take the rest and have your fun You can take it fast, You can take your time Brother, I don’t care cuz I feel fine Well I was a ship at wreck When she walked by I twist my neck, no foolin’ Oh I felt so lost at sea and I got myself in some shit so deep But this Cincy Gal she played it cool Her hair was blue and her eyes was too She scratched my back, screwed up my fur, I’m a kitty cat and she makes me purr Now I don’t know East from West But when she’s with me any way’s the best, Scout’s Honor Yeah she might be pretty young But she helps me rise instead of settin’ sun- it’s a natural fact Well you could be right, you could be wrong You can place your bets, say my shot is long And you can beat me up and you can tear me down But this Ypsi Boy’s still goan be Cincy Bound

I fell into it like I always do You'd think by now I'd have a fuckin' clue This Spinnin' Wheel that I keep clingin' to It can only go around Lift me up to run me down Every one is different But it's always the same We wait for the one that's bound to wander away And when it's done we try to be OK OK it's over now, one last kiss goodnight We tuck ourselves and turn off the light Despite it not feelin' right And so we spin the wheel Caught in the Spinnin' Wheel Just a Spinnin' Wheel...

Wasn't always such a mess Guess he got a little depressed On that long ole road to happiness out west He was from Californ-I-A But back then was better days Uncle Sam took his medicaid away And he was grinnin' Good ole Uncle Sam stood there singin' a sad ole song All day long... He was singin' "Suffer for Joy, every girl and boy For every helpin' hand there will be a strikin' hand And if you got the rocks, well you can get your knocks Know that every hand you hold, one day you will unhold" Well he couldn't talk too good, Didn't have all the teeth he should I saw him cryin' on a park bench all alone He stopped and asked me for a light I nodded and grabbed my pipe Almost spent us a long ole night in jail And they were grinnin', The good cop and the bad cop started singin' a sad ole song All night long... They were singin',"Suffer for joy, every little girl and boy For every helpin' hand's gonna be a strikin' hand And if you got the rocks, you can get your knocks Know that every hand you hold one day you're gonna have to unhold" He took the fall and they hauled him off Blue in his, holes in his cough Coulda kicked him down at The Docks for all I know He turned and he thanked to me He paid the price to keep me free But all I heard was piano keys But he was grinnin', Piano-Man with cuffs for hands started singin' that sad ole song Oh such a sad ole song... He was singin',"Suffer for joy, every girl and boy For every honest man there will be a dishonest man And if you got the rocks, you can get your knocks Cuz only love stands a chance to stay in love"

New York City, New York City Ain't it a party, ain't it a pity I'm wanderin' 'round, wish I had a buck fitty Just a lonely hobo singin' me a ditty All Day Long... Got a long bucket-list, don't include Time Square But I'm 'bout to turn 30 and I got a wild hair And I took a Greyhound Bus just to get me here If you don't know me you better leave well aware I'm talkin'- So I took me a stroll down in Central Park I was lookin' for a lady, lookin' for a spark I might be waitin' here long after dark If you don't like my bite, you oughtta hear my bark Singin'- Well I miss my dog and I miss my kitty I'm just a country boy who had to call it quitty It gets a little dirty and it gets a little gritty, But I can't find a place to shit in this city Singin'-

In this life I get a little crazy In this life I get a little whittled down In this life it gets a little hazy Other times I think I figured it all out But no one really knows, and no one really cares No one... 'cept maybe... No one... No one's even there Dad said boy, "When you're younger You always lookin' to get old Before you look over your little shoulder You're singin' 'Oh My God, where did my glory day just go?!'" And singin' "Oh, Oh No, Oh, Oh yeah, Oh, Well Maybe, Oh, Well, Well, Well, Well, Well" Grandpa say, "It won't be much longer" This old house won't be his house no more He been livin' here for a long ole time, But there's only one way off of this killin' floor I'm singin' "Oh, Oh, Oh Yeah, Oh, There Ain't Goan Be No Maybe, Oh, Well, Well, Well, Well, Well" One for money, two for show, three get ready to let go, oh no One for money, two for show, three get ready to let go, oh no One for money, two for show, I ain't ready to let go...

Catchin' up to my issue Sensin' somethin' in my rear view I was born snapped in two One wants to live the other wants to lose Lean a little to the right God I hope that I can win this fight Beat myself up once or twice And a bloody nose right now sounds so nice So I tip right over Spit my teeth up for ya, And I'm one day older And I'm one less soldier dyin', but I ain't dead yet Like to come off kinda crude After all I'm just another dude I got a need to consume And I don't know how to shake this mood So I flip right over Stick my neck out for ya Watch me tip right over Cuz I'm far from sober- I spill my guts right out

Ready Aim 03:37
You and I rely on ourselves The truth in the lie of trusting somebody else But intertwined is where I find I don't mind the crime How could I know? What could prepare? Why did you show? Who put you there? Never really knew what was best, but I know what I like Might of made it a few more years, but why put up a fight? And all that changed since you got in my range And you're the target in my sights My bow is braced as we fall into place I take a breath before I say... "You're Mine"

The girl that you miss that ain't comin' back Looks just like you left her 'fore you got off track And if you saw her now, not a wrinkle would show But if you know what is missin' then you already- When you think of the girl in the middle of night She looks just like the picture with her hair hangin' right And she ain't got no makeup, She ain't got no bow She don't need either, but you already, already- And she won't come home, And you won't go back Comin' all undone, Honey don't say that Is it all my fault for the way I am And we're movin' on, Do you remember when? All my life, all my day, on my mind, the way she said...

about

Songs Caleb Zweifler wrote over the past few years,
most of which were recorded to cassette while on a backpacking expedition across the United States.

Accompanying instrumentation provided remotely by his far more talented friends and pieced together on the most primitive of free music editing software.

This album is meant to reflect the erratic mind. Presented roughly, a distant transmission of ephemeral moments- crackling and corroding.
